Purpose and Goals of FCSN’s Social Recreation Program:
Regional Center Clients (for POS Funding)
FCSN is a vendorized service provider of the Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB) and San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) for social recreation programs. RCEB & SARC clients can attend FCSN social recreation classes without paying any out-of-pocket cost. Please contact your regional center case manager/service coordinator to add social recreation program to your child’s IPP and to request for the POS (Purchase of Service) to be issued to FCSN.
Non-Regional Center Clients or Regional Center Self-Determination Clients
For clients who are not with RCEB or SARC or do not have Social Recreation POS, you have the option to pay for these classes out-of-pocket.
Types of Classes
FCSN offers a variety of fun activities according to individual’s person-centered plan, allowing clients to enroll in social activities that fit their own interest and needs. Classes are held at the East Bay center for RCEB clients and South Bay center for SARC clients.
Arts & Craft
Classes are designed to engage individuals with special needs in age-appropriate creative activities that foster social interaction, teamwork, and artistic skills. Participants will collaborate on various projects such as painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafting with diverse materials, emphasizing teamwork and collective creativity.
Cooking Club
Cooking club is designed to develop culinary skills while fostering social interaction promoting healthy eating habits. Participants will engage in cooking sessions, where they will learn to prepare a variety of dishes while interacting with their peers in an inclusive and supportive environment. After preparing the food, participants will share a meal together, practicing table manners and engaging in conversations to enhance their social skills.
Music & Drama
Classes are designed to engage individuals with special needs in age-appropriate performing arts activities. This program aims to foster social interaction, develop musical and theatrical skills, and boost confidence and creativity. Participants will engage in music and drama sessions where they will learn to perform, collaborate, and express themselves in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Social Fun Groups/Clubs
Classes are designed to help individuals with special needs develop essential social skills and learn how to interact effectively with others through age-appropriate interactive games and activities. The program fosters a supportive environment where individuals can engage in shared activities aimed at improving social interaction and communication skills while promoting mutual respect and understanding.
Sports & Fitness
The sports and fitness classes are designed to help individuals with special needs develop social skills and interact with others through physical activities. Participants engage in activities that promote teamwork, communication, and cooperation, while also focusing on physical health and well-being. This program aims to create a supportive environment where individuals can improve their social skills and physical fitness simultaneously.
STEM Clubs
Classes are designed to engage individuals with special needs in hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities that promote problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking. Participants work collaboratively on STEM projects, enhancing their technical skills while learning to communicate effectively and support each other.
