Interview with Ms. Chuang: Helping Others Find Their Voice Through Speech-Language Pathology

Ming-Chen Chuang is a Speech Language Pathologist at the Santa Clara County of Education, where she provides services to students with neuroatypical development in areas of speech, language, and communication. She received her Bachelor’s degree from National Chengchi University, Taiwan, and her Master’s degrees in linguistics and Speech and Language Services from UNC Chapel Hill. First introduced to FCSN through one of her student’s parents, Chuang has since given several talks at FCSN about effective communication skills for special needs families.

When Janice Chang was born, her parents immediately sensed their life had changed. They felt as if Janice’s journey would be unique. During her first check-up, the pediatrician noticed she could not lift her arms or legs like other newborns. Ultimately, the doctor acknowledged what her parents were already beginning to see, that Janice wasn’t developing like most babies. She was unusually quiet and still, while other infants kicked, bounced, and wailed. She lacked the strength to sit upright in her buggy and would slowly slide down because her muscles could not support her. She didn’t have the energy to bounce on an adult’s lap, and she rarely cried.
Fishing Fun Day at Sandy Wool Lake

On April 13, 2025, over 150 FCSN kids, family members and volunteers had a fun fishing day at Sandy Wool Lake, Ed Levin County Park. Sandy Wool Lake is a serene 14-acre reservoir located in Ed R. Levin County Park in the eastern foothills of Milpitas, California. This tranquil spot is surrounded by lush greenery. The event was organized and coordinated by Rotary Club of Almaden Valley - Willow Glen Alman, FCSN and Santa Clara County Park (SCCP). The event aimed to introduce FCSN families to the joys of fishing in a supportive and educational environment...
