Family Outreach & Support Services

The Asian Service Disparity

Data from the regional center shows that Asians make up 19% of its client population but are only utilizing 13% of its services. The disparity indicates a significant portion of Asian families do not understand their entitlement to access resources and services for their loved ones with disabilities.

With funding from the Department of Developmental Services, FCSN supports and empower Asians with disabilities to access regional center services.

Topic: Impacts of Federal Budget Cuts on the County of Santa Clara and our community

Speakers: Xiaofeng (Johnny) Qiu & Team/ Management Analyst of County of Santa Clara – County Executive Office

At our Zoom meeting on October 24, 2025, we are very pleased to welcome Xiaofeng (Johnny) Qiu and his team from the County of Santa Clara – County Executive Office as our guest speakers. Johnny and his team will share insights on the topic “Impacts of Federal Budget Cuts on the County of Santa Clara and Our Community.”

Federal budget cuts are happening across the nation, and local governments – including the County of Santa Clara – are feeling the effects. These changes may influence many essential services that families depend on, especially those supporting individuals with special needs. While the impacts may begin at the county level, they could eventually affect everyone in our community in the future.

This is an important opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn more about how these budget cuts might shape local programs and resources, ask questions, and gain helpful information on how to prepare for possible changes ahead.

We hope you can join us for this informative and meaningful discussion.
