The Asian Service Disparity
Data from the regional center shows that Asians make up 19% of its client population but are only utilizing 13% of its services. The disparity indicates a significant portion of Asian families do not understand their entitlement to access resources and services for their loved ones with disabilities.
With funding from the Department of Developmental Services, FCSN supports and empower Asians with disabilities to access regional center services.

Topic: Housing Choices for Our Special Needs – ADU and Section 8 (特殊需求人士的住房選擇-附屬住所單位和第八條住房券)
We’re excited to welcome FCSN senior parents Alice Liu and Edmend Lin to our upcoming Zoom meeting on Friday, June 27, 2025, where they will share their insights on “Housing Choices for Our Special Needs – ADU and Section 8.”
An ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) is a secondary housing unit with complete independent living facilities. It typically comes in three forms, such as detached units, which are separate from the main home.
Section 8, officially called the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP), is a federal program that provides rental subsidies to help low-income individuals and families – especially those with special needs – access safe, affordable housing in the private market.
Alice and Edmend will discuss their personal experience using ADU and Section 8 options to support their child with special needs. We invite you to attend and learn more about how these housing solutions may benefit your family!
