Goal

The FCSN after school program is overseen by Program Manager, Anna Wang, who has many years in the field has implemented various teenage and after school programs with the very successful Friendship Model. The Friendship Model is designed to help participants with developmental disabilities create and sustain meaningful friendships with peers with and without disabilities. This is accomplished  through staff and volunteers modeling independent skills, healthy life-styles,  as well as self-esteem  - all through fun activities. Staff expose students to exciting sports recreation, yoga, group games, music, and arts & crafts and help them explore their potential and hidden talents through the various activities. Middle and high school students without disabilities volunteer their time to develop friendships and teach social skills in a naturally occuring fun, safe environment so that the emphasis is truly on developing the skills necessary to become a good friend.
